Thank You!

Thank you for contacting Upgrading Self (US).

As promised, we have some answers to some of your questions about our cost-free and affordable lean, agile, and six sigma consulting and coaching services.

Cost-Free Consultation

How is it that we are able to offer process improvement consultations for free for small businesses?

Firstly, we increase returns by optimizing value.

When we partner with you we will measure and reduce process, performance, delivery and other forms of waste in your business, which will increase your profit. We will then receive the value of an agreed percentage from the waste-reduction profit.

In reality, our services would cost you nothing.

Affordable Services

For midsized enterprises, we are inclusive when it comes to pricing. You will get the best services without breaking the bank. This is so because we promote and participate in the Igbo Apprenticeship System (IAS) of business.

The same goes for training, coaching and mentoring individuals in Agile (Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, XP and more).

Who are the Igbos?

The Igbos are African people mostly found in the south-eastern part of Nigeria. Ethnic Igbo populations are found in other parts of Nigeria, Africa, as well as outside Africa. Pre-colonial Igbo political organization was based on semiautonomous communities, devoid of kings or governing chiefs.

According to Mises Institute, the Igbos are one of Nigeria’s largest ethnic groups and are known for their success in entrepreneurship and academia. The Igbos’ culture has been characterized as achievement-oriented, individualistic, and adaptable, which anthropologists say best explain their success.

According to The Conversation, the Igbos practice what is today known as stakeholder capitalism. The Igbo apprenticeship system is a communal enterprising framework where successful businesses develop others, and over time provide capital and pass along their customers. The IAS provides entrepreneurial learning that prepares the younger generation to take to business as a way of life.

According to a LinkedIn article: Why Startups Fail But Igbo Businesses Don’t by Oladimeji Olutimehin, the Igbos have a simple system for acquiring clients by forming a cluster. Igbos with similar businesses stay around each other.

Igbo Apprenticeship System

According to a 2021 Harvard Business Review, IAS is an Igbo model for stakeholder capitalism. It is a construct that businesses must elevate the interests of all their stakeholders alongside those of shareholders. Our stakeholders are communities, workers, consumers, and the environment.
